Peripheral Aangioplasty Surgery In India

Peripheral Angioplasty Surgery India, Price Peripheral Angioplasty Delhi India, Angioplasty Surgery Hospital India, Peripheral Angioplasty, Neurology, Brain, Nerve, Nervous System, Peripheral Cardiac Surgeon India, Peripheral Angioplasty Surgery Center India, Multiple SclerosisPeripheral angioplasty is a procedure that has grown rapidly in the last two decades. The same atherosclerosis that involves the heart arteries can involve any artery in the body. The most common arteries to be involved are those which supply the legs (causing cramps when walking, known as claudication), those to the brain known as the carotid arteries (causing strokes) and the arteries to the kidneys (causing high blood pressure).

The same risk factors for coronary artery disease are associated with peripheral vascular disease. Controlling these factors can help control symptoms.

There are noninvasive tests, which may help your doctor learn if the blood flow through the arteries is impeded and if so may order an angiogram. The procedure of peripheral angioplasty is performed using a catheter and a balloon to expand a narrowed artery. Stents are often used to help keep an artery opened. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia and sedation. You may have your procedure as an outpatient or stay overnight. Light activity may be resumed shortly after the procedure and full activity in about one week.

A peripheral vascular angioplasty is the procedure used to open clogged arteries in the arms and legs by inflating a tiny balloon in the artery. Patients needing peripheral angioplasty procedures suffer from peripheral vascular disease, a condition caused by a narrowing of the arteries and/or obstruction of an artery by a clot or piece of plaque. There are several types of peripheral angioplasty/stent procedures, including balloon angioplasty, atherectomy, and laser procedures.

There are several types of angioplasty procedures, depending on your condition and the characteristics of your artery.

Balloon Angioplasty : – This is the most common type of angioplasty procedure. A catheter is guided into your clogged artery. A smaller catheter with a balloon tip goes into the first catheter and a balloon is inflated to push the plaque against the artery wall and open the artery. The balloon is then deflated and the catheter withdrawn. This procedure not only allows the compression of the plaque, but also enlarges the artery.

Stent Placement : – A stent is a small stainless steel cage that is inserted into the artery after angioplasty has been performed to help maintain patency of the artery. It may reduce the rate of restenosis (closing or narrowing of the artery). When stents are used, a patient may need to be on blood thinning medication to help prevent blood clots.

Atherectomy : – Instead of pushing the plaque against the wall of the artery, the plaque is scraped off and removed.

Laser : – Laser procedures are available, but rarely used to remove plaque in the arteries. The procedure consist of tiny laser beams used to cut away the plaque and reopen the arteries.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]

Vascular Balloon Angioplasty: the procedure Surgery in India

Before undergoing angioplasty procedure, the patient is given a medication to help them relax. The area of insertion is shaved and numbed. The cardiologist then guides a sheath into the artery in the groin or arm. A catheter is inserted into the sheath and guided to the blocked area of the artery. An angiogram allows the cardiologist to spot the narrowing in the artery. Once the artery is located, a balloon-tipped catheter is then inserted into the existing catheter and guided to the site. The balloon is then inflated to compress the plaque against the artery wall.

Once the artery is opened the balloon is deflated and the device removed. Most procedures take between 1 and 2 hours, depending on the severity of the clogging and the number of vessels involved. In the event of complications, stent placement or bypass grafting may become an option. A surgery team is on stand-by would a bypass surgery be urgently required. Patients recovering from angioplasty procedures are monitored in the hospital overnight before being discharged. Patients should be able to walk without much discomfort.

When you go home : –

  • Avoid heavy lifting (over 20 pounds) or strenuous exercise for 3 days
  • You may shower, but do not take a tub bath or swim for one week
  • Watch the site for signs of infection: swelling, drainage, or tenderness
  • If bleeding should occur, apply pressure and go to an emergency room or call 911
  • Do not have a MRI scan within 8 weeks of stent implantation without first discussing it with your physician

Call your doctor if : –

  • You notice tingling or pain in your leg
  • Your leg is white in color and cold to touch

Alternative of Peripheral Angioplasty

Use of clot dissolving drugs or thrombolytic agents – These medications help to burst the clots

Now or Never Atherosclerosis is a progressive disease. It can affect your arteries supplying blood to your heart, brain, limbs, and other organs of your body. Over time, the inner walls of your arteries become clogged with deposits composed of fat, cholesterol, fibrin (a clotting material found in the blood), cellular waste products, and calcium. Accumulation of these materials cut down the blood supply to your vital organs thus causing either a heart attack (if coronary arteries are obstructed), painful muscle cramping during exercise or even at rest (if a leg artery is obstructed) and stroke (if a neck artery is obstructed). Performing a timely Peripheral Angioplasty accompanied with positive life style changes prevents risks of having a heart attack, stroke, gangrene, and the morbidity and mortality associated with these conditions. As they say “a stitch in time saves nine”

Decision to have Peripheral Angioplasty Surgery in India

Peripheral Angioplasty has revolutionized the treatment of Peripheral Vascular Disease. Implantation of stents during angioplasty procedure reduces the chances of re-stenosis of the artery tremendously. The procedure of Peripheral Angioplasty is certainly not a treatment for Peripheral Vascular Disease however, accompanying lifestyle changes can definitely reduce your chances of further problems and complications[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_message message_box_color=”mulled_wine”]
